Hello there, welcome to my tiny corner of the internet, I’m Abbie or Abb, but please never ‘Abz’.

Just a twenty something trying to squeeze the most out of every minute whilst impatiently yearning for the next chapter. Yes, I realise that makes little to no sense. Mastered the Art of Translation, passionate about foreign languages and actively appalled by Brexit. Spends a ridiculous amount of time watching anything to do with ‘tiny house living’ and currently have my heart set on renovating a barge boat on the waterways of the UK.

I grew up in Leicester before moving away with the wonderful Josh to university in Bangor, Wales. I then jetted off for a year abroad between Mons, Belgium and Valencia, Spain. After graduating we moved to Sheffield where I studied for my Masters. In between the studying and all the hours spent in ‘spoons, we travelled at every opportunity, I would say mauled by the travel bug is more accurate than bitten. It would be easier to tell you where I don’t want to go, than where I do.

Europe has my heart and a life in the sunshine in Spain or Portugal would suit me just fine. If I had to pick, my favourite European cities would have to be : Porto, Florence, Amsterdam and Prague. But there’s a whole world out there that I quite frankly am desperate to see. So, in November 2018, after months of deliberation and numerous ‘we’re not ready to settle’ conversations, we boarded a one way flight to Singapore. You bet I will be sharing those Gardens by the Bay photos for the rest of eternity. We travelled through Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, the Philippines and India before hitting pause and bagging jobs as English Teachers in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Hanoi, Hanoi, Hanoi. You know when somewhere just makes you feel happy, like smile ear to ear-fuzzy feeling kind of happy. That’s Hanoi for me. I adore the craziness of the city, the way this eclectic, eccentric capital is bursting at the seams with vibrancy, culture, colour, coffee, crazy-delicious food, and the friendliest people.

Alas, I recently swapped the EFL kindergarten teacher life for Van life in New Zealand. So, that’s where I am now and have been during the year that needs no introduction other than 2020. I just guess we lucked out on the country ‘to be stuck in’ during a global pandemic front.

So, aside to my 40 hour week WHV job and my side hustle in Translation and Editing, I write this little travel blog. I launched Abbie Jade Wanders in April 2018 and put simply, I love writing, I am a keen photographer (though I haven’t got time for one of them swanky cameras with multiple lenses). **Update I HAVE ONE OF THEM PROPER CAMERAS!! and I’m just here to share my tips/recommendations and a whole lot about our adventures! Expect all the viewpoints, sunset spots, vegetarian food to drool over and some sporadic sustainable travel chat.

I really hope you enjoy reading!

Feel free to reach out and get in touch with me at abbiejadewanders@hotmail.com for all queries, questions and collaborations.
