If you are at any point going to splash out and treat yourself then booking a night or (if you’re feeling particularly flush) two, is more than worth it. Disclaimer- my dad booked our stay at the Marina Bay Sands as an early Christmas present – so the biggest thank you to them. As even at the start of our trip, we couldn’t have justified staying here with the prospect of six months of travel to pay for. Saying that, I would totally spend the money to stay again on future trips!
THE Marina bay sands
The Marina Bay Sands really is all you could wish for and a bit more, with extra glitter and bows. I mean that iconic rooftop infinity pool – need I say more. I may have spent the majority of our stay in total disbelief we were actually there. Truthfully, we had just left the UK on a one way ticket and I was just floating around Singapore in my own joyous little bubble. Anyhow, the three cheese toasties you can get by the pool are delicious and the happy hour was actually so much more reasonable than I expected.
The Marina Bay Sands is an architectural marvel home to the world’s biggest rooftop infinity pool, there are more than 2500 rooms, more shops than you can shake a stick at, two theatres, a casino and a plethora of restaurants. On the 57th floor of this epic 5-star hotel is the rather extravagant SkyPark, where you will find that pretty snazzy infinity pool.
THE ROOMS at marina bay sands
We cheekily arrived early for check in at around 11am and we were over the moon that they had a room ready that we could check in to early at no extra cost. Check in was super easy, you’d expect nothing less I suppose. Our Deluxe Room over looking the Marina and the city beyond, had more square footage than the flat we rented in Sheffield, two flat screen TVs is probably more than any couple needs but I’m sure there are people out there that would make use of them.
The hotel offers a range of room options with views overlooking the fabulous Gardens by the Bay or the marina and towering skyline. If you are feeling extra swish then there are Club Rooms and suites located on higher floors of the towers. If you book one of the upgraded rooms or a suite, then you will also receive complimentary afternoon tea, cocktails and canapes at Club55, as well as breakfast at one of the Marina Bay restaurants.
A kid at Christmas, yes that was me, when I turned on the light switch and it triggered the curtains to open. It’s the little, albeit ostentatious, things.
Our room was cleaned, water replenished and towels left with fresh orchids and a cute little note. We wandered around in our robes, chilled by the pool and charged most of our expenses to our cards to worry about later.
ThE Infinity Pool
Now the pool really is the most exquisite cherry on top of a very elaborate cake. At a staggering 340 metres above the city you really do feel on top of the world. Take in the breathtaking views. Laze on a sun lounger and indulge in the poolside drinks and snacks.
Access to the pool at Marina Bay Sands is exclusively for hotel guests, so I’m afraid you can’t just pop up for a cheeky dip. The cheese toasties from the rooftop bar are heavenly (Did I say that already?). Take advantage of Happy Hour – always welcome on any kind of budget. The fresh coconut cocktails are delightful. There are more room service options than you could ever want or need. What’s more, the surrounding Marina Bay Area is gorgeous and there’s so much to see/do just a stones throw from the hotel. We set our alarms for early the next morning as we didn’t want to miss sunrise from the dizzy heights of the pool and I’m so glad we did. Sunrise is such a glorious time to check out the pool at the Marina Bay Sands as it’s incredibly quiet and peaceful. There were a few other couples swimming but for the most part, we had the pool to ourselves. Absolutely perfect- no kids, no noise and no camera dodging for photos.
We swam about, took the obligatory photos on the edge of the worlds most spectacular infinity pool and then we switched sides and hopped into the jacuzzis to watch the last rays of sun peek through over the Gardens by the Bay. Unfortunately, storms rolled in meaning that the pool had to be cleared but we couldn’t say no to a morning mimosa before our impending check out.
worth the hype?
Honestly, the Marina Bay Sands is the swishest, swankiest and definitely the most expensive hotel we’ve ever stayed at, we spent a silly amount on cocktails and food but given the chance and not a backpacker budget, we’d do it all again in a heartbeat. I mean yes, you have to factor in the flights but the cost of a night at the hotel is not too dissimilar to a night at a fancy hotel in London, New York or Paris. So have I persuaded you to book your stay? Head over to booking.com to book a room now.

This place looks absolutely incredible. A stay for a night or two is sometimes so needed when travelling for a long amount of time! Is it wrong that I want to stay here for the toastie alone? It really is the little things hehe x
